Let the ripping off of other things continue.  RTD ripped off Star Wars with the laser guns on the, to quote Wilfred, Cati ship.  And the whole bar scene was totally from Star Wars.

Now, on to the episode.  Still not liking the idea of six billion Masters.  He just looked silly in the uniforms because they looked too big on John Simm.  Don't get me wrong, I love John Simm as the Master.  He's brilliant.  I just think the uniforms looked like a little boy playing dress up.  And if I never see him in drag again it will be too soon.

Timothy Dalton was down right evil.  I know that I'm new to Doctor Who.  I only really started watching when Christopher Eccelston started.  So I'm not familiar with the Time Lords of the old series.  I can't say I liked the President of the Time Lords.  And it seemed to me that Timothy Dalton was overacting just a little bit.

How much do I love Bernard Cribbons and Wilford Mott!  Both actor and character were brilliant in these last two specials.  He added something to these.  A father figure, if you will, to the Doctor.  When he said that he would be proud to call the Doctor his son, it was moving.  And when the Doctor told him he would be honored to be his son, that was wonderful.  I do hate that RTD has now given Wilf the guilt of causing this regeneration.  Not a nice thing to do to this sweet old man.

The Master taking out the President of the Time Lords, I believe they said his name was Rassilon, was great.  Especially when you consider the fact that it was this guy's fault the Master had been hearing the drums all his life.

I personally believe the Lady Time Lord was the Doctor's mother.  The way he looked at her when she took her hands down from her face and the fact that we thought she said something like My Boy to him makes me come to this conclusion.

I like that the Doctor went and said goodbye to each of his companions in his own way.  I wanted his note to Jack to say something to the effect of Ianto's still alive, but I guess it's okay he introduced him to Alonzo.  I also love that he went to see Joan Redfern's great-granddaughter to make sure she had a good life.  I do have one question though.  What the hell happened to Tom Milligan?  When Martha came on Torchwood, she was engaged to Tom.  Now she's married to Mickey?  WTF!

I think my favorite part of his goodbyes was when the Doctor showed up at Donna's wedding and gave her mother and grandfather the envelope.  When he told them that he had borrowed a pound from Donna's dad I started to tear up.  When she opened the envelope and saw the lottery ticket, I felt the tears really start to form.  The look between Sylvia and Wilf said it all.  The Doctor had allowed Donna's father to give her an amazing wedding gift.

The regeneration was a bit violent.  I hope the TARDIS comes out okay.  Matt Smith's post regeneration body parts check was great.  I think I'm looking forward to the next season.  And I think the fact that RTD is not going to be involved is making it more likely that I will watch and enjoy.  The preview they just showed during Demons looked good.  As for Matt Smith's age, he's only 4 years younger than Peter Davidson when he started.  That's not that much.

Farewell David Tennant.  Like 10 said right before he regenerated, I don't want you to go, but the time had to come.  Here's hoping we meet again someday.

I agree with all you've said. It seemed that a whole lot of the plot revolved around the opportunity for The Master to create The Master Race. *rolls eyes*

I really did think they did a good job, especially with the last 15 minutes. They took some of the pain of losing DT away. MS's entry was better than I expected.

Hee! I really enjoyed the Star Wars Cantina!

I thought the Cantina was a bit cheesy. Rolled my eyes when I saw it. But then again, I thought that some place like that would be where the Doctor would find Jack after the events of COE.

It will be interesting seeing the next series with Matt Smith and where the Doctor goes from here. My one roommate thinks the new companion is hot. LOL.

Who is the new companion? Is it the thief, as rumored?

No it's not the thief. Although she was on DW before. Her name is Karen Gillan and she was on Fires of Pompeii. Her character's name is Amy Pond. She was one of the Soothsayers in FoP.

I thought it was a cracking last ep, really good, and I shall be sorry to see RTD go as director. I loved what I saw as his tribute to Star Wars (and surely you (generic "you") can't complain about that if his Queer as Folk tribute to Doctor Who was considered okay!).

I also think guilt's in the mind (well, duhh! *g*) - will Wilf feel guilty for causing something that the Doctor knew was coming anyway? When I'm not even sure that Wilf knew what he'd done, actually? After all, he saw the Doctor leave, alive and he saw the Doctor ages later, at Donna's wedding - again, alive. So... I can't imagine there was any guilt at all there... And even if there was, that's what makes stories interesting! If authors gave every single character they played with a perfectly happy ending, it'd be dull!

I think the uniforms etc were supposed to look a bit silly on the Master... *g* I thought he looked fab in the fuschia dress... *vbg*

Anyway - glad you enjoyed it in the end, and yeay, here's to the new Doctor! Have you been able to watch the preview? It all looks rather good... *g*

The tears in Wilf's eyes as the Doctor left the last time indicate that he knew that the Doctor was about to regenerate. He knew that the Doctor said he would see him one last time.

Never said I wanted a nice bow on everything with a happy ending. And my problems with RTD go back farther than this year. There were eps he had written for 9 that I thought were terrible.

Anyway, I saw the preview. I think 11 is going to be interesting. Looking forward to it.
