Update on Facebook friendship troubles

So I finally e-mailed that guy back.  I told him that I am a firm believer in the past being in the past, but I couldn't forget what he did to me.  There was some other stuff, but that's not important.  Anyway, he e-mailed back and said he didn't blame me if I hated him and for what it's worth, he apologized.  He said he wouldn't blame me if I didn't want to be friends with him anymore.  I told him that I accepted his apology and that I didn't hate him.  It takes a lot of energy to hate someone, and I just don't want to waste that kind of energy on him.  I did say that we couldn't be more than friends, ever.  I think he got the message.
