I read today that New Line is getting ready to make a MacGyver movie. Where do I hide from this insanity? MacGyver will not be the same without Richard Dean Anderson and something tells me the powers that be will not be casting him to play MacGyver. Oh, and there was only on Pete Thornton and that was Dana Elcar. Not to mention Jack Dalton as only Bruce McGill could play him and Murdoc as only Michael Des Barres could play him.

This will not work. I do not know why they are doing it execpt they want money. I kinda hope they don't cast someone I like to play MacGyver, it will make it hard for me to hate it.

Some things should never be re-made as the originals are the best/loved.

Maybe because I saw the UK version first, but I have not been able to get into the American version of Life on Mars. Harvey I try to make an exception for.

I've never been big on remakes. And with this show, this was my favorite show in the 80's, I couldn't get behind Young MacGyver, let alone a remake.

They just cancelled Life on Mars so I guess no one else could get into the American version either.

No doubt if I had seen the American version first (LOM) I may not have taken to the UK version. I will never know.

With this world wide financial crisis, just hope they don't dump the good tv shows and replace them with reality shows. We need good drama and comedy.

I know they told the actors on all the CSI shows that they wouldn't be getting rasies this year, but they said that was also part of the losses due to the writer's strike.

We don't need any more reality shows, that's for sure.

Almost every time I see a movie that is a remake of a favorite show, I am always very disappointed. I'm a huge fan of the Starsky & Hutch tv series, and I HATED the movie remake with a passion. They turned a good tv drama into an idiotic comedy with two fumbling idiot cops. It was not even close to being S&H.

As for a MacGyver movie. I'm with you. It would not be the same without RDA in the lead role. They would have to do a damn good job portraying MacGyver in order for me to watch it. But something tells me that I will be, once again, very disappointed.

Yeah, I think you're right. Disappointment is probably in the future. And if the Starsky and Hutch movie is any indication, we're going to be very disappointed.
