Return to Cranford

Return to Cranford is on PBS.  I love Judi Dench and the rest of the cast.  I just really miss Martin Shaw as Peter Jennkins.  The other guy's just not the same.

Golden Voyage of Sinbad

Fell asleep for a couple of minutes on the couch.  Woke up and GVoS was on.  Nice to wake up to Martin Shaw on TCM.

Rhodes

I just finished watching Rhodes.  I loved Martin's performance.  the supporting cast was great.  It was nice to actually see Joe Shaw in a role. I haven't seen Bad Girls or his Judge John Deed appearance yet, this was my first chance to see him act.  My only problem is Rhodes himself.

After I started watching, I looked up Cecil Rhodes. I didn't find a likeable guy.  The storyline in the miniseries didn't really show him as a likeable guy.  He did have his moments and both Martin and Joe played him brilliantly.

I think this was the first time I didn't like a character Martin has played.  Of course, I haven't see his entire filmography yet so it's possible there's another one out there that I probably won't like.  It's happened before with characters that Viggo Mortensen and Richard Dean Anderson have played.

Cranford

I just got finished watching Cranford last night.  God bless PBS.  <G>  Overall I thought it was a good program.  Judi Dench never disappoints.  I found myself laughing and crying at the residents of Cranford's experiences.

Of course in the last part every time they mentioned Peter Jenkins, I felt myself smile.  Then when the man himself appeared, it was great.  I think my roommate might have laughed at me, but hey.  I got to see Martin on American television, nothing wrong with that.

Three and a half more days of work, then Media West.

Lemur Kingdom

I just found out through TV Guide that Lemur Kingdom (known in the UK as Lemur Street) will be airing in the US on Animal Planet starting Feb 8th.  It will air in Canada starting Feb 13th under the original name of Lemur Street.  Martin goodness on this side of the Pond!  Now, if only I can talk my roommate into watching a documentary about lemurs.  <G>

Happy Birthday Martin!

It is once again time for me to shout out a happy birthday.  This time to the wonderfully gifted and still sexy actor, Martin Shaw!  Since I have been lax in purchasing Photoshop, there is no card, alas.  But I wish Martin a wonderful birthday and hope that Apparitions and George Gently make their way across the Pond so I can share in the Martin goodness.

Happy Birthday Martin!

And yes, I did wear my Doyle t-shirt under my dress shirt today for work.  <G>

Doctor in the House and Death in Holy Orders

I got my Amazon stuff in.  It's been a fun couple of days.  I have watched Death in Holy Orders and Doctor in the House so far.  Two very different roles and very different time periods, but wonderful performances.

It was interesting to see Martin play a student, and one who likes his drink as much as Huw does.  Huw was a funny character.  sunray45 told me that he stole the show, and he did.  I was very glad I wasn't eating or drinking anything when the students were dressed as nurses.  I did wonder a couple of times what Bodie would think of our Huw.  And Robert Kingsford's student days came to mind as well.

Adam is a very take charge police man.  I liked the way he just came in and told everyone this was what was going to happen, but he wasn't obnoxious about it.  There are been other policemen on TV who have been like that.  Adam is a gentle soul who did his job effectively and needs a little time to put his past behind him.

Next on my agenda after Doctor Who tonight and Torchwood tomorrow, and writing my essay for class, is The Murder Room.  And my Michael Ball DVD.

They're Playing Our Song

I get recommendations from Amazon.  And because I put John Barrowman's Reflections on Broadway they recommended the original Broadway cast album of They're Playing Our Song.  I actually thought about buying it because Martin Shaw was in it at some point.  Yep, I'm a goner.  It's still sitting there on my recommendations, tempting me.   I'm sure I'll tell them I don't want it at some point.  But for now, it's recommending something that Martin was at least in, even if he's not on the soundtrack.
