I think I jinxed myself

It's been over a week since my interview.  They said it would take about a week for the references and background check to get done.  I haven't heard anything back from them.  Why do I have a feeling that I've jinxed myself somehow and I'm not going to get a job that I actually wanted?  I'm about ready to give up.

It's just frustrating. It's hard not to get discouraged. Especially after nine months of being unemployed.

It's such a hard week to get hold of people. Between school starting, vacation ending, and Labor Day weekend coming up, it may just be that the person calling can't get anyone to check references...or the person who does the background checks may be on vacation or something.

Don't give up! Maybe you'll hear tomorrow!

I haven't gotten a rejection letter yet, like my friend did. I'm just getting so discouraged by the whole job seeking process. The last time I looked for a job, I found one in like a month. Oh well, this is a different time I guess.
